Gingerbread cookies
Complete your Christmas with these gingerbread cookies.
Ingredients:
- 200 g white granulated sugar
- 300 g brown sugar
- 250 g butter (at room temperature)
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon ginger
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
For the finish:
- 150 g powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon water
- Optional: food coloring
- Optional: candies
Preparation method:
Mix all ingredients together and knead into a single dough.
Roll the dough into 2 balls and let them rest in the fridge for at least an hour.
Preheat the oven to 180°C.
Roll out the dough and place it on a baking sheet.
Cut out the figures using the cookie cutter.
Bake the cookies for 10 to 15 minutes in the oven.
The pieces may have spread a bit in the oven. You can fix this by cutting the shape out again as soon as they come out of the oven. Do not wait too long to do this, or the cookie will become too hard.
Let the cookies cool sufficiently before decorating the figures.
You can now decorate the figures by making icing.
Do this by mixing the powdered sugar with a little water. You can optionally color the icing with a little food coloring. Put the icing in a piping bag. If you don't have one, use a freezer bag and cut off a tiny corner.
Let your creativity run wild. Make bows, eyes, a mouth, etc. You can attach small candies to your cookie by using the icing as glue.
Enjoy!
