Matcha latte
What is matcha?
Matcha is a finely ground green tea from Japan. Unlike regular tea, with matcha you consume the entire tea leaf, allowing the flavor and nutrients to be fully utilized.
For premium matcha, Tencha leaves are used. These grow in the shade, are carefully harvested, and are slowly ground into a bright green powder. The result is a smooth, creamy tea without sharp bitterness.
Our matcha comes from Kagoshima (Japan), a region known for its high-quality green tea.
What do you need for a matcha latte?
For one cup of matcha latte, you only need a few ingredients:
- 1 to 2 g of Japanese matcha
- 60 ml warm water (about 70 °C)
- 180â200 ml milk or plant-based milk (oat milk is a favorite)
- Optional: honey or maple syrup
A bamboo whisk (chasen) or a small whisk helps to make the matcha nice and frothy.
Matcha latte recipe (hot or iced)
Step 1: mix the matcha
Put the matcha in a bowl and add the warm water. Whisk gently until you have a smooth, frothy mixture.
Step 2: add the milk
Heat the milk for a hot matcha latte.
For an iced matcha latte, use cold milk and ice cubes.
Step 3: finish it off
Pour the milk into the matcha, stir gently, and sweeten to taste if desired.
⨠Tip: Sift the matcha beforehand for an extra smooth result.
Which matcha is suitable for a latte?
Not every matcha is suitable for drinking straight or for use in a latte. Preferably choose:
- Japanese matcha (no culinary blends)
- matcha based on Tencha
- a smooth, non-bitter flavor
Our Japanese matcha from Kagoshima has been deliberately selected as an entry-level matcha: ideal for daily use, both pure and in a latte.

Why matcha is a wonderful daily ritual
Matcha contains caffeine, but in combination with L-theanine, this provides a gradual, calm energy. Many people find matcha to be smoother than coffee â without the familiar peak and crash.
A matcha latte is therefore perfect:
- in the morning
- as a focus moment
- or as a quiet afternoon ritual
